Florida Department of Transportation, 2005 Transportation Statistics Office General & Support Consultant

Project Summary
This 3-year statewide project included providing on-site support and assistance to the Department's Planning Office of Transportation Statistics. Services included: data collection by a variety of methods, traffic monitoring support, & videologging system enhancements. To ensure that the data are collected completely, consistently, and accurately, Marlin continually coordinates with TranStat and District staff, and to help use, revise, and provide handbooks, procedures, training and other aids related to roadway data collection. Statistical and engineering analyses were generated, as needed, to develop specific data, reports, and recommendations to support the Central Office TranStat staff in the performance of their responsibilities. Marlin assisted in some or all of the following areas:

Engineering and Planning services and procedures;
Implementation of the TranStat Office Business Plan;
Compilation and analyses of data to support Planning and development of the Strategic Intermodal System (SIS);
Improvements to General Roadway Data Collection Procedures;
Collection of data for the Highway Performance Monitoring System (HPMS);
Collection of functional classification data, as required and prescribed by FHWA;
Historical data research;
Feasibility studies or pilot projects for evaluation of potential planning uses of new information or technologies;
Improve and extend the use of videologs to collect roadway data;
Provide technical staff capable of performing traffic data processing, quality control and other related work assignments;
Improve the Traffic Monitoring System;
Special traffic data collection and / or analyses;
Development and dissention of the Project Traffic Forecasting Procedure;
Research & development of Mobility Performance Measures;
Extract, analyze, and present various roadway and traffic data;
Assistance in Geographic Information System (GIS);
Computer network support;
Software development.
