US 1 from I-95 to SW 88th Street Corridor Study
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 6, is conducting a corridor study along US 1 from Vizcaya Metrorail Station to Dadeland South/SW 88th Street. The corridor study will analyze existing conditions, identify recurring congestion locations; and evaluate multimodal transportation improvement needs based on future travel demand. Finally, the study will identify conceptual improvements for congested locations along the US 1 corridor and provide recommendations for subsequent detailed studies.
MARLIN’s role in this study included existing conditions analysis of multimodal traffic data collection, on-board Metrorail and bus ridership data collection, transit speed and delay analysis freight analysis, and a detailed analysis of pedestrian, bicycle access to, and connectivity within, Metrorail Stations and their park and ride lot facilities.
A list of projects was developed for each station based on field observations, utilization data, pedestrian and bicycle counts, and the FDOT 2016 Park and Ride Lot Inspection report. A total of 76 projects were identified as improvements focused. MARLIN provided instrumental input of funding strategies and categorizing projects to fit into the FDOT Work Program.
