Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Plans
MARLIN developed a Safe Routes to School Plan which involved the evaluation of 10 schools selected by the Miami-Dade TPO for improvements. This included field visits, coordination with school administration, and outreach to stakeholder groups to get input on needed safety improvements.
MARLIN analyzed unsafe walking conditions and developed recommendations and cost estimates for improvements to infrastructure within each school’s attendance boundary. The MARLIN team then developed and submitted ten infrastructure applications to FDOT for funding based on the recommendations.
